Earthian awards sustainability education programme from Wipro Foundation.

Earthian awards programme is conducted annually. The programme is launched in the end of April every year and culminates in the month of February of the following year with the awards ceremony in Bangalore.

“Wipro earthian has completed a landmark 14 years in the space of Sustainability Education. It is one of India’s largest programs of its kind for schools and colleges and is designed to act as a catalyst for fostering excellence in sustainability thinking and action. Objective

Earthian programme for schools is an activity-based exploration of environment within and around the school by its students to understand what sustainability. The programme has resource material for schools to carry out activities on three themes of Water, Biodiversity and Solid waste.

Who can participate?

The activities have to be conducted by students in a group of minimum 2 or maximum 5 students. The student groups have to be supervised by a teacher/s. There is no limit on number of student teams a school can form. The student teams can attempt multiple themes or can attempt multiples of same theme with different student teams.

Booklet, 3 Bingo sheets, Story of a fig, Bird migration, Posters – Neem, Giant Milkweed and Singapore cherry, Training video, Sample submission.

Solid Waste Kit

Process

The earthian process involves exploration, data collection, analysis and reflection.

Outcome

The product is a soft copy submission that needs to be submitted for evaluation to the Wipro Foundation during the 1st week of November, every year.

Recognition

Participation is recognized at various levels

National

School

The top 20 submissions chosen by schools from across the country by two juries (Internal and External) win a cash award of INR.50,000/-.

Students, Teacher teams

The top 20 schools receive awards from Wipro Ltd. Chairman Mr. Rishad Premji at a gala awards ceremony at Bangalore (All expenses paid). Certificates, Goody bags and Plaque for school.

State (regional)

The school team with best submission for each theme gets to win a cash prize of INR.10,000/-. Sometimes the award money is distributed between teams with multiple teams with similar evaluation.

Appreciation

School teams whose submissions score more than 70% in evaluation are given appreciation certificates.

Participation

School teams whose submissions score more less than 70% in evaluation are given participation certificates.
